The new trailer for the Keira Knightley film Colette dropped this week. The film is based on the true story of the French novelist Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette. She was forced into ghostwriting for her then-husband Henri Gauthier-Villars (“Willy”). Her Claudine series was true, write what you know endeavor, pulling from her life for her inspiration. Although she left Willy and continued writing, he kept all of her royalties. It was during this time she met an independently wealthy lesbian. She eventually remarried and was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1948.

I’ve never heard of this author, but I do enjoy watching Keira Knightley. Our community desires good content that showcases all aspects of the said community. If the trailer is any indication, this looks like a very interesting period piece.
